E-invoicing changes the route a B2B invoice follows. Agencies, consultants and creators should identify the client’s platform and approval workflow before the due date.

What is established

According to the French Ministry of the Economy, all affected businesses must be able to receive electronic invoices from 1 September 2026.

According to the same source, large and mid-sized companies must issue electronic invoices from that date; SMEs and microbusinesses follow on 1 September 2027.

The French tax authority’s practical guide states that receipt uses an accredited platform.

What this does not establish

E-invoicing does not guarantee payment by the due date.

A technically delivered invoice may still be blocked by a missing order reference or dispute.

Each company’s tax status and invoicing workflow must be checked.

If you are affected: what should you do?

01

Identify the client’s channel

Confirm the platform, purchase-order reference and receiving department before issuing.

02

Keep status evidence

Archive submission, receipt and rejection records.

03

Check before the due date

Confirm the invoice reached the right team and is complete.

04

Act on the first blockage

Correct technical or administrative rejections promptly.

Points to watch

  • —Do not treat an emailed PDF as automatically compliant e-invoicing.
  • —Do not wait until the due date to discover a mandatory purchase-order reference.
  • —Keep evidence of the original submission.
